Standings After Week 8

Well, we are nearly half-way through the season. The end of the 1 p.m. games this coming Sunday will be the exact midway point. West Side holds a 9-point lead, but the Cruisers ... after making up a lot of ground the past two weeks ... are poised for a mid-season run.

WSW - 410
WVC - 401

If it weren't for Ivy, Weavervegas would be toast.

West Side Overcomes Retardedness; Retains Overall Lead

Retardedness in several forms manifested itself this week amongst the WSW's. The first example of retardation was when Joe Dean forgot to make his picks. Those dirt bikes must have rattled some screws loose over the past couple of weeks.

The second retarded issue was when I completely mis-counted the week's points total in my last post. I don't know where in the heck I got 56-37. I had just returned from 5 days in Alabama deer hunting, so I was lacking a good bit of sleep.

In any case, the final points total for the Week 7 is:

Cruisers: 53
Warriors: 45

Losing by 8 is not terrible considering we were playing 5-on-6.

Overall score after Week 7:

Warriors: 359
Cruisers: 348

So, since Joe missed his picks, we are essentially even. Both teams have had two players miss picks. So this is 100% straight-up now.

*Congrats to N-Mark for being the league's first two-time weekly winner. He hit the tiebreaker points total right on the money at 48 to beat me in my second tiebreaker loss of the season.

Cruisers Can Take The Lead This Week

After the Sunday afternoon games, Weavervegas is up 56-37 thanks to great picks by all of the Cruisers and also the absence of Joe Dean. Very interesting points total, considering the difference between 56 and 37 is 19 ... coincidently the overall points difference is 19.

If Denver wins on Monday night, not only will the Cruisers have closed the points gap, they will take the overall lead. The overall leader hinges on the Monday night game. If Denver wins, the Cruisers are in the lead. If New England wins, the Warriors will retain the lead.

Regardless of the outcome of the week's final two games, Ivy will take sole possession of first place. Joe will drop all the way from second place to around 20th. The lesson is: Don't forget to make your picks!

**Info For Dunbar: Don't get me wrong, I will always update the standings on here, but I wanted to let you know all of the Warrior's nicknames so you could run some totals yourself ... and be sure to check my stats to make sure they are right. Ivy caught a mistake of mine a few weeks ago and I'm sure there will be others.

Sparkles (Me), The Producer (Mark Forster), Joe D-zay (The loser that forgot to make picks this week), West AVL Warriors (Couey), Josh (Josh Carlisle - Morganton), Go Big Brown (Michael Bowman - Morganton).

Joe Freakin' Dean!!

I predicted a swing in points this week. I didn't know it was because Joe didn't make his picks this week! Dang! Oh well ... I guess you can call the Warriors and the Cruisers "even" now since we both have two players who have missed weeks.

Looks like the Cruisers are going to take this week handily.

WTF No Joe Dean?

Well, this maybe the week that Wvegas finally makes up some ground towards there rightful spot at the top of the pickem chllenge. It would appear that Joe D-zay forgot to set his alarm in a classic lack of team discipline that we have come to expect from the warriors. After scanning the Cruisers scores ths week it would appear that we played well. I don't know all of the WAW code names so Spakles will have to fill us in on actual results so far.

Who would have thought?

The Browns beat the Giants? Good for them. Not good for us. Not good for anyone in the entire pool except for T.

Oh well ... that leaves us with a score of 50-46 for the week, West Side over Weavervegas.

Points After Week 6:

WSW - 314
WVC - 295

Week 7 holds a lot of potential. I see a major swing in the points coming. I don't know whose favor it will be in. Due to injuries, momentum and personnel changes, there are some tough picks coming up this week.

West Side Gets Back On Track

Since San Diego laid the motherpissin' smack-down on the Patriots (who would have lost even with Tom Brady), the West Side solidifies a 4-point win for Week 6.

Currently, the tally is 50-46. If Cleveland wins MNF (yeah, right), that will be the week's final score. If New York wins, the final score will be 56-52 in favor of the Warriors.

*Congrats to Ivy for getting a piece of first place overall. It's pretty cool that a member of each of our teams is tied for first. Cali ain't got nothin' on the right coast. Joe Dean will hold down second along with Bo Knows. The unfortunate news of the week (although it doesn't apply to us at all) is that Walker, the Godfather of this pool, will finish all alone in second-to-last place this week, just barely above someone who forgot to make their picks.

Houston

I am really excited that picking Houston for 6 straight weeks has finally paid off. That is Wall Street level foresight. I hope you guys all learned your lesson.

Oooohhh, I smell somthin' cookin'!

After the 1:00 games, it's looking good for the West Side this week.

Right Now:
WSW - 32
WVC - 26

[edit]
The Cruisers, led by Dunbar, have made up some ground after the 4:15 games pulling to within 3 at 45-42.

West Side has 5 players picking SD in the Sunday night game and only 1 picking NE. Cruisers have 4 picking SD and 2 picking NE. Cruisers can pick up another point with a NE win ... Warriors can pick up another point with a SD win. All 12 of us have the Giants picked for Monday night.

*Congrats to Ivy who will now tie Michael for first place overall regardless of what happens on Sunday and Monday night. Joe Dean will be only one point out in 2nd.

Predictions

I was just thinking how since Weavervegas has basically dominated every event we have been invited to participate in we should let the Warriors have something for their years of efforts. I think the first 4 weeks of the NFL pickem is sufficient. We will take it from here guys. Once again it was a good effort. You always provide entertainment and sometimes even a challenge... sometimes.

Cruisers Pick Up 6

Congrats to Casey, Dunbar, Ivy & Weber for leading the Cruisers to a 57-51 victory this week. Congrats to Casey for winning the week with the tiebreaker. That's a true friend to screw someone out of winning on their wedding week.

Current Standings After Week 5:

Warriors - 264
Cruisers - 249

Gap has narrowed from 21 to 15.

Cruisers Actually Win A Week

Week 5 points through Sunday night:

Cruisers: 54
Warriors: 50

If New Orleans wins tonight, Cruisers will win 57-55. If Minnesota wins, Cruisers will win 57-51. Big difference. Go Saints! (Never thought I would say that).

Congrats to Luke and Bru. You guys had an awesome wedding. Glad I got to see everyone.

Also, congrats to Couey & Dunbar for pulling it together on the picks this week.

*Very Interesting Fact: If NO wins MNF, there will be a 3-way tie for the week's win ... and all three are part of this side bet. Casey, Couey & Michael will come down to a tiebreaker. To make it even cooler, if Minnesota wins, then it will become a SIX-WAY TIE with ALL SIX part of the side bet. Casey, Couey, Michael, Weber, Dunbar & Ivy. Good job guys.

1st Tiebreaker - Total Points for Saints/Vikes game:

Casey - 56
Couey - 47
Michael - 44
------------
Weber - 38
Dunbar - 45
Ivy - 37
