Week 15 Update

Before the Monday night game, I've got Warriors 825 and Cruisers 844. Everybody picked the Eagles so the 19 point lead will not change. Good luck West Side.

Week 14 Twins

I noticed that me and Sparkles had the exact same 16 picks for the week. To my knowledge this has never happened before. In all likely hood, out of a pool of 33 its probably happened before but went unnoticed until now.

I just wanted to point out that I picked a final score of TB 21 and Car 27 which comes to a total of 48 points. Sparkles came up with TB 17 and Car 30 which equals 47. When the actual final of the game came out to TB 23 and Car 38 which comes to 61.

So if in some freak circumstance of nature occured and it came down to me and Sparkles..... I would have finally won a week.

~Bucktacular

Damn it Joe Dean!

In a week the Cruisers would have won handily anyway, Joe Dean forgot to make his picks. Therefore, Weavervegas handed the West Side a brutal ass pounding and will win the week by 19 points, and take a whopping 14-point overall lead with only two weeks left in the season. The Cruisers take their first lead of the season at a very crucial time. It looks like gloom and doom for The West Side.

No Super Bowl for Ivy

Sorry guys, I'll be watching the game in Orlando. If the Panthers go, I'll be in the parking lot in Tampa.

The Inn I work at is re-carpeting the floors over a week and a half long stretch that covers the big game. Autumn and I have planned out a week long trip to Disney World. But, I really wish I could be in town for Mark to serve me a cold one.

Go Weavervegas,
Ivy

Warriors pick up 1

The Warriors are up 59-58 going into Monday night. MNF is a wash, so we will end up winning by a point. Keep your fingers crossed for Michael (Big Brown). He has lost several tiebreakers this season and will be in another one tonight.

Friday, November 28, 2008

My Quick Count

This might not entirely be accurate because I added it up quickly. But here are the difference makers for Weavervegas. Simply reverse the + to a - if you are a Warrior.

Tampa Bay +1
Washington +1
San Diego +3
New England +1

So, for instance if San Diego wins, Weavervegas picks up 3 points over the Warriors.

Also it looks like we've already picked up a point this week from the Thursday games.

Here's What Happens When You Get a Day Off...

Through week 11 I've figured out each individuals win percentage in our pool. This would be the number of games that they have picked correctly versus the number of games they have picked. This is a good way to see where you rank in comparison to guys that forgot to pick a week, or a game, (Couey.)

Here we go,
1) The Producer 62.5%
2) Dr. Merlot 61.9%
3) Go Big Brown 61.3%
4) L-Dub 60.6%
5) Joe D-Zay 60.4%
6) Jaengold 58.5%
7) Wasim 57.9%
8) Sparkles 56.8%
9) Josh 56.2%
10) Green Mtn BBQ 55.6%
11) West AVL Warriors 54.7%
12) My Boy Slick Rick 53.4%

Totals are:
West Asheville 58.7%
Weavervegas 58.0%

* worst week ever still goes to Dunbar for picking 4 correctly out of 13 in week 4

Weavervegas cuts defecit in half with Cowboys win

The return of Romo destroyed the West Side's Week 10 14-point cushion. Weavervegas picked up 7 in Week 11, with 4 of those points coming from the win by Dallas.

Sunday, November 16, 2008

It comes down to Sunday night

Monday night is a wash, and Weavervegas leads the week 64-61 going into Sunday night. If Dallas wins, the Cruisers will cut their overall deficit of 14 in half and be up 68-61 on the week, as none of the Warriors have Dallas picked. If Washington wins, the Warriors will be up 67-66. We both have 4 players picking Buffalo and 2 players picking Cleveland for Monday night.

Thursday, November 13, 2008

Jets Help Weavervegas

The Cruisers picked up another point tonight with the Jets overtime victory. It also looks like Couey's decision not to participate in the Packers, Bears game will give us another point for the week.

That's a two points for the week so far for the Cruisers. Keep up the good work guys.

West Side up by 1 after Thursday game

Denver's 17-point 4th quarter gave the West side a 4-3 lead going into the weekend.

West Side Overcomes Retardedness; Retains Overall Lead

Retardedness in several forms manifested itself this week amongst the WSW's. The first example of retardation was when Joe Dean forgot to make his picks. Those dirt bikes must have rattled some screws loose over the past couple of weeks.

The second retarded issue was when I completely mis-counted the week's points total in my last post. I don't know where in the heck I got 56-37. I had just returned from 5 days in Alabama deer hunting, so I was lacking a good bit of sleep.

In any case, the final points total for the Week 7 is:

Cruisers: 53
Warriors: 45

Losing by 8 is not terrible considering we were playing 5-on-6.

Overall score after Week 7:

Warriors: 359
Cruisers: 348

So, since Joe missed his picks, we are essentially even. Both teams have had two players miss picks. So this is 100% straight-up now.

*Congrats to N-Mark for being the league's first two-time weekly winner. He hit the tiebreaker points total right on the money at 48 to beat me in my second tiebreaker loss of the season.

Cruisers Can Take The Lead This Week

After the Sunday afternoon games, Weavervegas is up 56-37 thanks to great picks by all of the Cruisers and also the absence of Joe Dean. Very interesting points total, considering the difference between 56 and 37 is 19 ... coincidently the overall points difference is 19.

If Denver wins on Monday night, not only will the Cruisers have closed the points gap, they will take the overall lead. The overall leader hinges on the Monday night game. If Denver wins, the Cruisers are in the lead. If New England wins, the Warriors will retain the lead.

Regardless of the outcome of the week's final two games, Ivy will take sole possession of first place. Joe will drop all the way from second place to around 20th. The lesson is: Don't forget to make your picks!

**Info For Dunbar: Don't get me wrong, I will always update the standings on here, but I wanted to let you know all of the Warrior's nicknames so you could run some totals yourself ... and be sure to check my stats to make sure they are right. Ivy caught a mistake of mine a few weeks ago and I'm sure there will be others.

Sparkles (Me), The Producer (Mark Forster), Joe D-zay (The loser that forgot to make picks this week), West AVL Warriors (Couey), Josh (Josh Carlisle - Morganton), Go Big Brown (Michael Bowman - Morganton).

Joe Freakin' Dean!!

I predicted a swing in points this week. I didn't know it was because Joe didn't make his picks this week! Dang! Oh well ... I guess you can call the Warriors and the Cruisers "even" now since we both have two players who have missed weeks.

Looks like the Cruisers are going to take this week handily.

WTF No Joe Dean?

Well, this maybe the week that Wvegas finally makes up some ground towards there rightful spot at the top of the pickem chllenge. It would appear that Joe D-zay forgot to set his alarm in a classic lack of team discipline that we have come to expect from the warriors. After scanning the Cruisers scores ths week it would appear that we played well. I don't know all of the WAW code names so Spakles will have to fill us in on actual results so far.

Dunbar

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Who would have thought?

The Browns beat the Giants? Good for them. Not good for us. Not good for anyone in the entire pool except for T.

Oh well ... that leaves us with a score of 50-46 for the week, West Side over Weavervegas.

Points After Week 6:

WSW - 314
WVC - 295

Week 7 holds a lot of potential. I see a major swing in the points coming. I don't know whose favor it will be in. Due to injuries, momentum and personnel changes, there are some tough picks coming up this week.

Sunday, October 12, 2008

West Side Gets Back On Track

Since San Diego laid the motherpissin' smack-down on the Patriots (who would have lost even with Tom Brady), the West Side solidifies a 4-point win for Week 6.

Currently, the tally is 50-46. If Cleveland wins MNF (yeah, right), that will be the week's final score. If New York wins, the final score will be 56-52 in favor of the Warriors.

*Congrats to Ivy for getting a piece of first place overall. It's pretty cool that a member of each of our teams is tied for first. Cali ain't got nothin' on the right coast. Joe Dean will hold down second along with Bo Knows. The unfortunate news of the week (although it doesn't apply to us at all) is that Walker, the Godfather of this pool, will finish all alone in second-to-last place this week, just barely above someone who forgot to make their picks.

Houston

I am really excited that picking Houston for 6 straight weeks has finally paid off. That is Wall Street level foresight. I hope you guys all learned your lesson.

Oooohhh, I smell somthin' cookin'!

After the 1:00 games, it's looking good for the West Side this week.

Right Now:
WSW - 32
WVC - 26

[edit]
The Cruisers, led by Dunbar, have made up some ground after the 4:15 games pulling to within 3 at 45-42.

West Side has 5 players picking SD in the Sunday night game and only 1 picking NE. Cruisers have 4 picking SD and 2 picking NE. Cruisers can pick up another point with a NE win ... Warriors can pick up another point with a SD win. All 12 of us have the Giants picked for Monday night.

*Congrats to Ivy who will now tie Michael for first place overall regardless of what happens on Sunday and Monday night. Joe Dean will be only one point out in 2nd.

Predictions

I was just thinking how since Weavervegas has basically dominated every event we have been invited to participate in we should let the Warriors have something for their years of efforts. I think the first 4 weeks of the NFL pickem is sufficient. We will take it from here guys. Once again it was a good effort. You always provide entertainment and sometimes even a challenge... sometimes.

Dunbar

Cruisers Pick Up 6

Congrats to Casey, Dunbar, Ivy & Weber for leading the Cruisers to a 57-51 victory this week. Congrats to Casey for winning the week with the tiebreaker. That's a true friend to screw someone out of winning on their wedding week.

Current Standings After Week 5:

Warriors - 264
Cruisers - 249

Gap has narrowed from 21 to 15.

Cruisers Actually Win A Week

Week 5 points through Sunday night:

Cruisers: 54
Warriors: 50

If New Orleans wins tonight, Cruisers will win 57-55. If Minnesota wins, Cruisers will win 57-51. Big difference. Go Saints! (Never thought I would say that).

Congrats to Luke and Bru. You guys had an awesome wedding. Glad I got to see everyone.

Also, congrats to Couey & Dunbar for pulling it together on the picks this week.

*Very Interesting Fact: If NO wins MNF, there will be a 3-way tie for the week's win ... and all three are part of this side bet. Casey, Couey & Michael will come down to a tiebreaker. To make it even cooler, if Minnesota wins, then it will become a SIX-WAY TIE with ALL SIX part of the side bet. Casey, Couey, Michael, Weber, Dunbar & Ivy. Good job guys.

1st Tiebreaker - Total Points for Saints/Vikes game:

Casey - 56
Couey - 47
Michael - 44
------------
Weber - 38
Dunbar - 45
Ivy - 37

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Standings After Week 4

Warriors - 213
Cruisers - 192

*Two of the Warriors, Micheal Bowman and Joe Dean, hold sole possession of 1st and 2nd place, respectively.
** Ivy and N. Mark are currently in a tie with 4 other players for 3rd.
*** While Couey still holds the honors for dead last, Dunbar is giving him a run for his money. :-)

Week Four....Ouch

I've got West Side at 40 points and Weaver at 36. Both teams are split down the middle for tonight's game. So it looks like West Side will widen its gap by four points.

This week sucked. The fact that 8 or 9 points will win the kitty this week shows how fickle the football Gods can be. At least I'll be able to root for Big Brown or D-Zay tonight. At this point I'd like to keep all the pool's money in the Carolina's. Fuck those California kids.

Friday, September 26, 2008

Week 4 Prediction

I predict that the West Side will widen our points gap even further with a 61-58 Week 4 win over the Cruisers. I also predict that Cou will be among our top 3 performers. But, I also predicted last Friday that my Washington Mutual stock would eventually rebound. I woke up this morning to some sobering news. Ouch.

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Standings After Week 3

Warriors - 170
Cruisers - 153

*Five of the Warriors are currently among the top 8 players in the league.
**Ivy is the only Cruiser in the top 8.

Layin' The Smack Down On W-Vegas

Going into Monday night's game, the Warriors have accumulated 54 points in Week 3. The Cruisers have only been able to muster 48.

If San Diego wins tonight, we will win the week 59-52. And that's with Cou's big 6 correct. Ouch. If the Jets win, we will take a 55-50 victory. San Diego is good, pissed off, and would rather suck turds than go 0-3. We'll take that 59-52 win.

That points gap is getting about as big as a Gamma Phi va-j-j after a KDR party circa 1998.

Good luck, gentlemen.

Dallas or Green Bay, week 3

What do you guys think? I'm having trouble deciding. I was hoping to get a little input

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

Current Standings:

After Week 2

Warriors - 111
Cruisers - 101

Thursday, September 11, 2008

First order of business ... The Bet:

Participants:
Weavervegas Cruisers - (Ivy, Jimmy, Weber, Dunbar, Casey & Wasim) vs. West Side Warriors - (Sparkles, Joe Dean, N Mark, Couey along with new members Josh & Michael)

Objective: The team with the most overall points in Walker's Pick 'Em pool is the winner.

Wager:
The bet is, as most of you know, a two-part bet.

1) The losing team has to buy beer for the winning team for a Super Bowl XLIII party to be held on the evening of February 1, 2009.

2) Members of the losing team must serve beer/other beverages/snacks to the members of the winning team upon demand. The winning team's members need not leave their seats other than to pee, crap or smoke.

If anybody has any comments on this, please post them here.

*Also, there is a proposal I would like to make. Please give me your input on this as well.

I would like to host the party at my house. It might be a little inconvenient for some of the Asheville crowd, but it is a closer drive for Casey and Jimmy as Ivy has mentioned. Also, I have the 8-foot screen to view the game on and plenty of seating (some seating has been added since most of you were there last.) If we do the party at my place, I would like to keep the number of people around 20 give or take a couple which should accommodate all team members and a guest. Also, I would like to do cases instead of a keg so we don't have to lug it up the stairs. I have already OK'd this with Rebecca. We need to get ideas for a location and put it to a vote. I am OK with doing the party in Asheville, but I just thought I would throw that out there. If it is in Asheville, we will have to replace one team member (Michael) because he has to be at work at 4:30 a.m. the next morning and can't make the trip up. But he has said he is OK with being replaced if need be.

Let's get this straightened out ASAP!!

- Chris
